Do only that which is right

Do only that which is right… the credo of the Universal Life Church  (ULC).

The Universal Life Church has no traditional doctrine. We as an organization believe in that which is right. Each individual has the privilege and responsibility to determine what is right for themselves, as long as it does not infringe on the rights of others. We do not stand between you and your God. We are active advocates of the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America.

WE ARE ADVOCATES OF THE GOOD LIFE! We want to be competent, to be proficient, to be cooperative, to love our fellow man, to appreciate, to be humble, to be honest, to be moral, to live positively, to be what we profess.”

I “joined the ULC around 1996.  Technically, I am the Right Reverend Obbop.

I never abused the title by attempting to obtain tax breaks or any other effort to obtain wealth.

I have never felt “holy” or “righteous” or spewed drivel to others proclaiming that I knew the “TRUTH” and was declaring what God wanted, needed, desired or any aspect of this life or some unprovable hereafter.

“…as long as it does not infringe on the rights of others.”

I interpret that statement as just a different way of writing the Golden Rule.

Wikipedia (Wiki) uses this;

“One should treat others as one would like others to treat oneself.”

Over the decades the most common version I have heard and read is;

“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”

This version is not understandable by me but it looks nifty on the monitor;

子貢問曰:“有一言而可以終身行之者乎”?子曰:“其恕乎!己所不欲、勿施於人。

Wiki states;

“All versions and forms of the proverbial Golden Rule have one aspect in common, they all call for others the equal manner and respect we want for ourselves.”

Well, so much for the USA’s ruling elite class, corporate USA, etc. Oh, include their lackey politician figureheads and the too-often scum vermin in bureaucratic positions.

We, the People, are lucky in that our masters have chosen the gentlest method to “rape” a large number of people.

The method chosen to acquire large amounts of wealth and power is to convince the one’s being screwed that the ongoing screwing is how things should be!!!

Then ensure that just enough wealth is allowed to remain with the masses so as to prevent actual starvation, etc.

But, over the decades, I have, in my Right Reverend Obbop and Disgruntled Old Coot Opinion, come to believe the masters have become too greedy and are not leaving enough wealth for the masses of We, the People to grab for ourselves.

Economics and the political realm are very complex.

I have written about those topics in other posts.

So I will minimize my mentioning the “stuff” that angers me to the point of:

DISGRUNTLEMENT

If more people practice the Golden Rule in their daily lives I can envision a more pleasant society.

(more to come)
