Coot Kindred Spirit

The S.H.A.M.E. Media Transparency Project takes the war against corporate trolls and media shills to a new and more effective level. Its goal is to expose corrupt media figures, document journalistic fraud and make life a little harder for covert propagandists who manipulate the public, degrade our democracy and help perpetuate oligarchy power.

S.H.A.M.E. was inspired by our readers and donors, who are tired of the rampant media fraud and deception, and want some way to fight back and reclaim our democracy.

“The purpose of S.H.A.M.E. is not to merely document media crimes, nor simply to humiliate or call out hypocrisy. The project is about providing useful, fun and effective tools the public can use to protect itself from being manipulated by sophisticated public relations con-artistry.

Think of S.H.A.M.E. as a kind of roach trap for media shills and corporate lackeys.

I found the Web site today and read just a small part of the site but it seems to me they possess at least a couple of the beliefs that led to my Disgruntlement.

I created this post to assist folks in finding a Web site that may be useful to you!!!

Move to Amend: Save the USA & Save YOUR Freedom

The National Campaign to End Corporate Personhood and Demand Real Democracy!

Launch the Stampede!

Our friend Ben Cohen, of Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream fame, has a talent for spectacle, which we very much admire. So we’re thrilled that Ben is joining forces with the Move To Amend coalition in a joint venture: The Stampede To Amend.

Ben’s crew is building “The Amend-O-Matic,” a giant, traveling, money-stamping contraption, which is part art and part information center.  Move To Amend is coordinating the tour — two of our fabulous community organizers will be crisscrossing the country in the vehicle.

We hope to depart Los Angeles in September and we’ll be on the road until mid-December. If all goes well, we’ll continue the tour on into 2013 to reach a broader area. We’ll be offering workshops, stopping at farmer’s markets, community events, downtowns, and Occupy sites along the way.

The Amend-O-Matic stamps dollar bills with one of the following messages:

  • “Corporations Aren’t People. Money Isn’t Speech.”
  • “Not to Be Used for Bribing Politicians.”
  • “The System Isn’t Broken, It’s Fixed.”

When the imprinted bills are spent, they circulate throughout the money supply, educating the public about the movement to amend – a brilliant (and legal) idea!

f we can raise $20,000 by September 24 (the date the machine is set to depart from Los Angeles), Ben has generously agreed to match that amount to help fund the tour through December.

Will you support The Stampede with a generous contribution today?

The Stampede To Amend involves everybody, not just those people along the route. When you make a contribution of $20 or more, you get your very own stamp, to start the “stampede” in your own community! Follow this link to get started today.

There’s no better value when it comes to educating the public and promoting our work. Ad buys in multiple markets are very expensive, lack the capacity to reach millions of Americans day after day, month after month, and can’t generate the media that “The Amend-O-Matic” will attract. This is a fabulous idea that we can’t let go by, but we need to raise the funds to make it happen. Please help!

Start the Stampede to Amend today!

We, the People of the United States of America, reject the U.S. Supreme Court’s Citizens United ruling, and move to amend our Constitution to firmly establish that money is not speech, and that human beings, not corporations, are persons entitled to constitutional rights.

Amazing, Astounding Web Statistic

There is an outpouring of joy and glee in the shanty atop the Ozark Plateau.

A trip to Alexa revealed this amazing piece of data;

Estimated percentage of global internet users who visit the Disgruntled Old Coot blog:

3 months of Web use: 0.000009%

Imagine that. The Web has billions of pages and this homely blog offered to the masses by a definitely Disgruntled Old Coot attracted 0.000009 percent of those Web wanderers!!!!

0.000009 percent!!!

The in-shanty celebration will be limited due to the small size of the assembled crowd of one.

There is a severe lack of party supplies but there is an awaiting can of cream of chicken soup on the shelf.

Until the next time feel free to shout a few hosannas.

USPS (post office) Price Increases.

Behold, your ever-helpful Coot here to assist the masses of multitudes about the price increases involved with moving the mail.

The “forever” stamps are still present. Buy a century’s worth and, perhaps, your offspring’s kids and perhaps their kids will be using 45-cent stamps when the current cost has risen to who knows how much. Five bucks or more?

It is possible.

“USPS Announces The “Forever” Stamp: Is It Worth Your $0.39?”

…if you buy a 39 cent “forever” stamp today, and then the postal service raises rates a few times, leaving a stamp’s price at fifty cents in 2020, you could still use that same “forever” stamp to mail a letter, even though you paid only 39 cents for it.

Click there—> THERE to read the entire article.

Neato “forever” stamp. Buy now and usable for any future price-increased first-class postal rates.

Web Radio Station

The Disgruntled Old Coot is mighty particular as to the music I listen to.

When younger music was an important part of my life but with time and increasing age I noticed that talk-radio, mostly on the AM band, increasingly drew my interest.

Heck, I went a multitude of months before hooking up the shanty’s stereo and afterwards seldom turned it on.

The Web was better for accessing informative/talk/political stations at times convenient to me.

I do enjoy many of NPR’s offerings.

Git on over there and smack the listen choice that tickles your trigger finger.

Appreciative Old Coot

Many “Thanks!!!”    to the horde of visitors  visiting this tiny  spot nestled within the Web.

Some visitors left nice comments while some comments were not as nice but I am used to that.

I have perfected the ability to create hate and discontent among others.  Heck, my own kinfolk despise me to the point they ignore me, hoping I just go away.  Sniff.

Coot Commendation

Please click the following links to download the FREE version of GFL SDK for your operating system.

XnView.

An image viewer, manipulator and other nifty things with some I likely haven’t even found yet. And, FREE!!!

I use the software to crop, move, re-size (not crop), change the pic’s format, add text, remove unwanted stuff via copy paste background color, general pic viewing and there’s a lot of other stuff available.

I am using it on a XP machine and previously on a Win98 brain.

No problems or glitches though “mileage can vary.”

What worked divinely for me may clutch your computer’s innards and commence choke-holding until you brain expires.

So, don’t blame the Old Coot if my commendation is not that commendable.

TV’s Importance

So long ago. Staring at inane drivel as corporate-based propaganda drenched me. Then a dousing by putrid politicians.

Enough!!!! I roared. Hefting the TV (they weighed more back then) I carried it to the rear bedroom of the duplex and prepared to hurl it out the window into the back yard.

But I stopped then dropped that TV.

I changed my mind.

Opening the window and removing the screen I again hefted the TV then hurled it.

Into the back yard it flew and there it remained until I moved.
