Wealthy folks own the mass media.
Profits is a prime motivator but it also seems to me that using the media to promulgate one’s beliefs, desires, etc.
It is not easy to prove the immense power of the mass media upon shaping the common folk’s views, attitudes, etc. but I believe a person with a well-rounded education and an awareness of daily life in the USA can realize to what extent those wealthy elites can influence public opinion.
One method to influence the masses is by ignoring a subject or a current news story.
The ignoring of the many atrocities committed upon USA citizens by rampaging barbaric illegal alien invaders is an ongoing example.
Adding to that “crime” by the elite scum is when they do cover illegal aliens it is invariably the warm-fuzzy emotion-laden tale of the relative rarity of the illegal striving to educate herself.
I write “her” since the illegals where I was immersed within for decades, the Chicanos of the southwest USA (but steadily spreading across the USA) tend to regard education for males as something pussies do. “Real” men work by the sweat of their brow… if they shun the ever-growing gangs of illegal alien barbarians.
I do not have access to cable TV and the various news programs offered not available via broadcast news received by my diminutive antennae sitting atop the shelf next to my TV.
So, maybe one or more of those cable news programs has covered the Occupy Movement protesting at the bunch of blowhards gathered at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida.
I have not seen any mention on my TV from local or national broadcast media.
Is the media ignoring the Occupy Movement folks as a way to shove to the side and remove the 99-percenter movement from the average citizen’s minds?
The Occupiers have been present during the convention!!!
I view many on-line news outlets and none of the mainstream news reporting Web sites have mentioned the Occupiers.
The minds of the masses are influenced akin to the methods used by the most vile dictatorships that have infested the USA.
Think about it, folks.
