Language and communications.
Closely related and intertwined but the complexities of language and communications in general are immense. Complicated even.
Just because you speak does not mean the one hearing the words has heard what you intended to say. The same with the written word.
Never assume your words were understood.
Even if understood there are levels of understanding and the one hearing may add or subtract to your intended message via the hearer’s internal thought processes.
Reading yet another news story from a USA-based news agency that labeled a foreign government as a “regime” prompted the Coot to toss the subject of language, communication, words, etc. into the bonfire that is the Disgruntled Old Coot Shanty upon the Web ™.
I use the label “toxic term” to describe a word that is intended to arouse a negative feeling within the one hearing or reading the word or term. Using words or terms that incite positive or negative feelings in the listener/reader is a time-honored tradition and a vital part of all propaganda machines.
The USA uses them along with every country, entity, organization heck everything and everybody uses propaganda and the multitude of tactics that make propaganda so effective… even on those educated to detect propaganda!!!!
For the proverbial record your Coot Critter uses plenty of what could be considered toxic terms but with an important difference compared to the typical propaganda; your Coot is so BLATANT with their use!!!
Vile scum putrid disgusting filth vermin unAmerican spit-in-your-face elites and their lackeys, minions, cohorts, etc. along with other words and terms are not subtle.
The best propaganda does not arouse TOO greatly, usually. Sure, at times, depending upon the circumstances, “official” propaganda can use ’strong’ venomous hard-hitting words and terms but most “good” propaganda trend to the subtle side of language; one thing that can make detecting propaganda difficult at times.
Give credit to the Cootster… Cootster Credit!!!!! Never label me as subtle.
I toss out my beliefs, opinions, declarations and other who-knows-what-it-is stuff and leave it to the reader to arrive at their own conclusion… even if as many e-mails aver that the Disgruntled One is a nut.
But, that’s okay. Reading those communications it is easy to determine the writer is a typical brainwashed bleating sheep whose knowledge base is most likely thousands of hours of staring at TV sit-coms and who has been indoctrinated thoroughly by minds far superior to theirs.
Denunciations from that class of commoners sates the Coot’s soul since their anger and disgust indicates I am on the proper path.
Keep those cards and letters coming, folks!!!!
Another toxic term I hear frequently is “compound.” A religious group living on an isolated farm in a run-of-the-mill wood-sided house that perhaps has a storm cellar within or nearby, well, do not be surprised if the modest home is labeled a “compound” if the mass media and/or some intrusive government bureaucracy disagrees with the belief(s) of those dwelling there.
“Compound” is frequently heard in the media or from babbling bellicose bureaucrats and politicians when referring to a foreign government’s “seat(s) of power” when that government is unpopular with our power structure or refuses to kneel down to and appease our elites.
A foreign government does NOT have to be a threat to the USA and may never want or plan on physically attacking the USA here, there or anywhere. To be a regime and be headquartered in a compound all a foreign governmental entity has to do is not bow down to our economic and political masters or, especially, not allow our corporations to enter and SKIM off the wealth of that country’s masses… perhaps the ultimate evil of any country in the minds of our overlords.
Since the Coot, for various and mighty fine reasons in my Disgruntled Opinion, holds a tidal wave’s worth of negative opinions towards the federal government, the elite class and its lackeys, bureaucrats and bureaucracies, I hereby proclaim that Disgruntled Old Cootness is in and of itself now a Regime and that the Coot Shanty is officially a Compound. Get off my compound’s lawn!!!
When exposed to toxic terms, herd, keep an eye and ear or two of each alerted for that term-type, be alert for propaganda.
See if you can detect many, most or all toxic terms tossed at thee.
Not all are obvious. How words and terms are used in context with other words and terms can greatly affect how they are perceived.
Just be aware, always, that We, the People, are bombarded by propaganda that is designed to make us accepting of the status quo that allows an elite class to amass enormous amounts of OUR wealth and leave us impoverished in many ways, economically, socially and spiritually.
“Right Wing Militia” is a label that is hard to define and is basically meaningless but does arouse emotions in many… and those emotions vary. Often, the term is used with little to no description of what that term represents.
Is a Right Wing Militia a group of people the media and/or some loyal-to-pay-and-pension bureaucratic lackey of the elite class and/or a corporation and/or a special-interest group dislikes or fears or whatever for some reason?
Is it a group of nutcases who may harm innocent folks? A group that is law-abiding and gathers for whatever reason in order to be prepared for some eventuality that may require future action?
Is the group harmless or an actual threat?
We are seldom informed of enough details to arrive at our own decision. Our beloved all-powerful all-knowing leaders and their lackeys do that for us.
Consider this; recently, federal bureaucrats determined that troops returning from overseas may pose a threat to the elite class and its status quo, as evidenced by the following borrowed political cartoon (thank you):
Maybe the feds are right!!! When I returned after two tours to southeast Asia I commenced a journey with many questions and doubts within my mind and followed up with decades of non-fiction reading and living life as one of the working-poor doing tasks vital to making the USA operate on a daily basis and experienced the many negative impacts to my life-style, economically and socially, from having to compete with MILLIONS of illegal alien invaders.
Doing the jobs that vile noxious perverted unAmerican scum politicians declared Americans were unwilling to do!!!
Well, I returned from overseas when military popularity was at an extreme ebb. Maybe that had its effect. I know that friends and family did not want to hear a warrior’s tales, even the humorous stuff.
Sigh… the Plains Indians such as the Lakota and Crow would pass idle time gnawing on buffalo, cozying up to the fire and wrapping in a buffalo robe to fend off the cold and share tales of prior glories.
Nowadays it’s lame corporate-created sit-coms aimed at a 10 year old’s mentality and it is the advertising that is the main message, intended to create materialistic impulses within the herd.

I am currently reading his book Deer Hunting with Jesus, a fine social commentary that likely places Joe’s house in the Compound classification by the enemies of the common folks… the elites, corporations and special-interest groups that spit upon us every day of our lives.
Perhaps the entrenched power elite fears the returning military because maybe a critical mass of them will turn into Disgruntled Old Coots themselves.
In past essays I have mentioned my belief that the only way to alter the present systems enslaving We, the People, would be a full-scale military coup by a patriotic officer corps with a critical mass of trained troops behind them.
Those troops would likely have to be active military and a mass of veterans from across the land to rally to the cause.
I can not foresee any other method that would free the USA from an entrenched embedded elite-owned and operated many-tentacled monster that comprises the many systems and sub-systems that together compose all that is our elite class, corporate America, special-interest groups and the HUGE infrastucture created to maintain the their status quo.
On another note….
The Coot nods approvingly at females who serve out their tour of duty and can field-strip an M-16.
Frivolous females, the majority who are encapsulated by the Females as Property Movement (FAPM), can depart military duty much easier than males can and, last I checked, do so at a greater rate than males, using various ploys with some, obviously not available to males.
So, officially, Coot Proclamation is such;
Any female successfully completing a full tour of military enlistment (shortened due to injury or not the female’s fault is okay) is exempt from the precepts of FAPM and is automatically allowed full unrestricted access to adult society.
As with males, unwillingness or inability to meet adult level responsibilities will lead to restrictions or elimination of adult rights and privileges.
Okay, carry on Herd.
Watch for those toxic terms since they are often encased with the propaganda designed to defend a status quo that usually harms you in so many ways.
